Two years ago I was treated to the most amazing birthday present — a completely decadent night on the town in NYC. Early evening cocktails? Algonquin Hotel. Dinner? Chez Josephine. Theatre? Twyla Tharp’s Come Fly Away on Broadway. After-theatre drinks? Bubble Lounge.
Is this not a day in heaven?
This year my birthday will not be in NYC instead I will be practicing my best Marie Antoinette by drinking champagne and hoping not to set my hair on fire BUT one thing that will be the same is that Twyla Tharp’s Come Fly Away will be here in Houston.
Is this not heaven?
As most of you know, Twyla Tharp is my creative muse. She is equal parts deliberate and accidental, focused by playful. I have read biographies, autobiographies, and creativity books, watched DVDs, watched youtube videos. I even have two photos of her up in my office at work.
To say that I am a Twyla Tharp fan is an understatement.
“Come Fly Away” is a tribute to the songs of Frank Sinatra and showcases Tharp’s choreographic idiom of ferocity, athleticism, and humor.
If you have the chance you MUST see this show. Below are a few video clips and here is what you need to do to get tickets.
