Spanish Catalan artist Antoni Tapies died in his home in Barcelona this week at the age of 88. Considered the most important artist to arise from post-war Spain, Tapies leaves behind a legacy that began with his involvement in the Surrealist (think Dali) and Dada (think Duchamp) movements and went on to include major works on both canvas and paper. He is primarily known for being one of the first artists to create serious works in mixed-media format.
Thought I would include a few images.
